​The SAFE Act requires state-licensed mortgage loan originators to complete a minimum of eight hours of NMLS-approved continuing education annually (depending on your state's requirements). Visit the NMLS Resource Center for information on how to review your education record.

Get Ready – The 2022 Annual Renewal Period Starts Soon

​The NMLS 2022 Streamlined Renewal Process begins November 1 and ends December 31. You must meet all renewal requirements in the states where you are licensed BEFORE you or your company can submit a renewal request.

Consult the Annual Renewal page on the NMLS Resource Center for guidance on how to prepare and complete the license renewal process.

Also, a Free Online Renewal Training Course is available to help guide you through the renewal process.

 

Connecticut Department of Banking to Adopt Electronic Surety Bonds

​Starting November 1, the Connecticut Department of Banking will begin receiving new and converted Electronic Surety Bonds (ESB) through NMLS for the following license types:

  • Mortgage Servicer License
  • Mortgage Lender License 
  • Mortgage Correspondent Lender License     
  • Mortgage Broker License  
  • Money Transmission License          
  • Consumer Collection Agency License
  • Debt Adjuster For-Profit License     
  • Debt Adjuster Non-Profit License    
  • Debt Negotiation License  
  • Exempt Registrants

See the ESB Adoption Map and Table for a list of state agencies who have also adopted ESB and required ESB conversion dates.

Arkansas Securities Department to Adopt Electronic Surety Bonds

​Starting October 1, the Arkansas Securities Department will begin receiving new and converted Electronic Surety Bonds (ESB) through NMLS for the following license types:

  • Mortgage Broker License
  • Mortgage Banker License
  • Mortgage Servicer License
  • Combination Mortgage Broker, Mortgage Banker, Money Servicer License
  • Money Transmitter License

Maryland Commissioner of Financial Regulation Adds Money Transmitter Self-Service Financial Kiosk to NMLS October 1, 2021

NMLS will begin receiving new application filings for Maryland Commissioner of Financial Regulation licenses. New applicants will be able to submit these records through NMLS. Click here to review the most recent advisory sent September 8.

Nebraska Secretary of State adds Debt Collection License and Debt Collection Branch Registration to NMLS September 1, 2021

NMLS will begin receiving new application and transition filings for the Nebraska Secretary of State licenses. The Collection Agency License will be available in NMLS to submit the transition request starting after September 1. 

However, we ask that all licensees wait until they receive a communication from our office before filing their transition application. We are rolling out NMLS in a staggered approach to ensure a smooth transition for all. Beginning in October, all agencies will be asked to transition to NMLS if they have not done so already. The agency will also begin receiving new electronic surety bonds through NMLS for the company license.
